Over time, Colloq has been growing and as a result, a good amount of events are being added to our site each day. So far our search has been working well, but finding specific events or event categories could have been easier and more intuitive. The ability of “tagging” or adding categories to events has been a feature request for a long time, of which we knew it would require a good amount of work. Eventually we started work and finalised the implementation of our new feature addition that we call “Topics”.
Topics are very similar to what we know as “tags” or even “categories”. We wanted to be able to not only categorise events with a certain topic, but also wanted to allow for topic pages, which show listings of all events for a certain topic, and additionally provide some extra information about the topic itself. To make topics more useful, filtering by topic needed to be a given. Furthermore topics are now shown on event cards, in search results as well as on event pages.
To add or edit topics for an event, visit the event dashboard the same way you would to edit an event’s details. On the event details page, which is the default dashboard page that opens, topics can now be found in the lower part of the event details section, where the desired topics can be added.
