    Alla Kholmatova is a UX and interaction designer with a nine-year experience of working on the web, for a range of products and companies. Most recently she was a senior product designer at an open education platform, FutureLearn. She’s particularly interested in design systems, language, and collaborative ways of working. In the last two years this interest has led her to spend a huge amount of time working on and researching the subject. She’s been sharing her insights with people through articles, workshops, projects, and most recently – a book. Alla contributes to design publications, such as A List Apart, and speaks at conferences around the world.

    Elliot Jay Stocks is the Co-editor and Creative Director of the bi-annual lifestyle magazine Lagom. Until the end of 2015 he was the Creative Director of Adobe Typekit, and prior to that he founded and ran the typography magazine 8 Faces, which has now been turned into a hardcover book after a successful Kickstarter campaign. His design work, for clients such as Colonna, Virgin, Microsoft, Brooklyn Beta, and MailChimp, has been showcased in publications such as Communication Arts, Creative Review, Computer Arts, Page, The Independent, .Net, and Design Week. He lives and works in the countryside near Bristol, England, and creates electronic music by night under the alias ‘Other Form’.

    Jonathan Snook is a designer and developer from Ottawa, Canada. Snook has a 15+ year career having worked freelance, for agencies, and for product companies such as Yahoo!, Shopify, and Xero. He writes about tips, tricks, and bookmarks on his blog at He has also written for A List Apart, 24ways, and .net magazine, and has co-authored two books, The Art and Science of CSS and Accelerated DOM Scripting. Snook has also authored and received world-wide acclaim for the self-published book, Scalable and Modular Architecture for CSS, sharing his experience and best practices on CSS architecture.

    Lin Clark is a code cartoonist. She takes coding concepts and turns them into cartoons. She also works in Mozilla’s Emerging Technologies group, where she gets to tinker with things like WebAssembly, Servo, and Rust. In previous lives, she worked at npm, was a core contributor to open source projects like Firefox’s developer tools, and contributed to HTML data standards.

She has been a principal in the New York office of the distinguished international design consultancy Pentagram since 1991, where she has designed identity and branding systems, environmental graphics, packaging and publications for a wide range of clients that includes, among others, Citibank, Microsoft, Bloomberg, the Museum of Modern Art, Tiffany & Co, the High Line, the Public Theater, the Metropolitan Opera, the Sundance Institute and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

She currently is a Design Lecturer at the NYU Shanghai Program on Creativity & Innovation. Yiying was named a “Top 10 Emerging Leader in Innovation” in the Microsoft Next 100 series. Her projects have been featured in many publications, including The New York Times, Forbes, The Atlantic, NBC News, TIME, Wired Magazine, and so on. Yiying’s client list includes Disney, PepsiCo, Microsoft, Twitter, Sony, Expedia, and so on. Her notable projects include Disney Shanghai Recruitment Campaign, the official Dumpling Emoji, the Twitter Fail Whale, Conan O’Brien’s Pale Whale, and the SXSW Interactive Big Bag Art.

    Yves Peters is a graphic designer/rock drummer/father of three who tries to be critical about typography without coming across as a snob. Yves started reviewing type in his Bald Condensed column on, and came to prominence as editor-in-chief for the international design and typography blog The FontFeed. After working primarily for FontShop for a decade, he has found a new home at Type Network. His talent for being able to identify most typefaces on sight is utterly useless in daily life.
