Title: HYPOCRETIN/OREXIN DEFICIENCY IN NARCOLEPTIC PATIENTS IS ASSOCIATED WITH OBESITY PARAMETERS
Dr Maria Fernanda Naufel is graduated as a Dietitian (PUC-Campinas, 2004), is specialist in Pediatric Nutrition, master at Paediatrics from Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP, 2009) and PhD at Nutrition (UNIFESP, 2018). Has large experience in Nutrition, focusing on Clinical Nutrition Researches, acting on the following subjects: neuroscience, sleep disorders, anorexigenic and orexigenic hormones, obesity, nephrology and pediatrics. At the moment she is a postdoctoral researcher in the ambulatory of Excessive Daytime Sleepiness at the Department of Neurology-UNIFESP (Chief: Prof Dr Fernando Morgadinho Santos Coelho), on a line of research about the influence of the neuropeptide Hypocretin (Orexin) on human obesity and eating disorders, in which is the lead researcher. The next step of our research is to performer for the first time, the metabolomic analysis of cerebrospinal fluid on patients with narcolepsy type 1 and type 2, and compare to a healthy control group.
