A conference about building things to last. Two days in Shoreditch, London, Monki Gras is an independent, community-focused single track conference. You will meet amazing people there.
So much of modern life is about disposability. In this conference however you'll find tech talks about sustaining what we do. This is a conference about building communities, products and services that are designed for the long term. This is a conference about respecting the people that will come after us to use and maintain the systems we build. Sustaining Craft is about more than technology. It’s about the right choice of materials, the choice of tools, learning and teaching skills, the ways we learn how to do things. It's about great documentation. It’s about business models, stubbornness and building communities that last. We'll cover topics such as apprenticeship, community management, writing sustainable documentation, software archaeology, sustainable open source, hop farming, and typefaces.
Monki Gras returns in 2018 as a celebration of the sustainable aspects of tech craft. As ever we have incredible speakers, presenting unique and compelling talks.
We'll have closely curated, lovely craft drink and food experiences, with lightning talks from craft brewers and our artisan food suppliers. The Cheese Mountain will be back. It is never been more important to think about how to sustain what we do, build for quality and reduce waste. Join us.
We are determined to make this conference as diverse as possible. We are therefore offering "diversity tickets" - if you buy a diversity ticket that will include your ticket and pay for another person from an under-represented group to attend the conference. We'll be augmenting these diversity tickets with sponsorship to ensure we can create a well managed, supportive diversity scholar program before, during and after the event.
