Now that the end of the year is near, we’re all looking forward to some quiet time. With every year that passes we all feel like the days are going faster and faster, so a little relaxation is well deserved.
Honestly speaking, for Colloq the last year has been full of ups and downs. It’s never easy to run your own project and while you’re happy about the good things that happened, the next challenge is lurking right around the corner. Thank you for all your support and the helpful feedback!
Yet we’ve been quite busy with our day-to-day work, we’ve managed to frequently work on Colloq. The end of the year is a good time to share some stats, and today we want to share some with you:
In 2019 we have fixed 91 issues, made 69 improvements and released 49 new features with a total of 1280 commits.
At the time of this writing we have 2,325 conferences with 1,410 speakers listed and in total these events feature 2,299 coverage items. As a member of our community, you can suggest or create events and add additional coverage items to conferences.
This is a good question that we ask ourselves often, too! To not get too much ahead of ourselves, let us share some of the things that are close on the horizon:
We’ve listened to your feedback and gotten a little tired of the in-page editing of events ourselves. Soon all events will get a convenient dashboard view where it’s easy to switch between different events and information can be edited in one place. There’s still some work to be done, but it’s not too early for a little peek-a-boo:
Many of you asked for ticketing and while we’re not able to provide a full blown ticket sale system, we will soon offer the ability to RSVP to events. This is especially helpful for meet-ups with free admission. This will allow people to register for events, and organisers can view how many people will attend.
There’s a few more things to look forward to, but to not spill all the beans for Christmas, we’ll keep some of them for the next year.
Thanks for making it this far, dear reader! We wish you happy holidays and all the best for a great start into the new year!
The Colloq team,
Holger, Anselm & Tobias
